Description

In 2 Samuel 8 & 9, David is victorious because God is bringing him victory. He is succeeding as king and letting God speak into his life. In the middle of his success, he is still showing humility to God and kindness and compassion to those around him. Mephibosheth was crippled due to a fall and lived in Lo-debar which means no pasture, no money, no idea - nothing. In fact, part of Mephibosheth's very name means shame. David calls out for him and brings him to his home. He invites him to dine at his table like one of his own sons. He is adopted into David's family and given love, compassion, grace, mercy, value, family, friendship, and identity. He is now one of the kings own sons. He went from nothing to everything. The fall of man brought sin into our lives causing us too to be broken and deformed. God calls for us. He pursues us. Jesus intercedes for us. He gives us an offer to accept Jesus as our Savior to redeem us, cleanse us, heal us, and make us whole before God. He invites us to be an heir of the Most High God - our King of all kings. He invites us to dine at His table for all eternity. He invites us not based on anything we do, where we are from, or who we are. He invites us to know Whose we are, where we are from, and what He's done. He gave us everything and already did it all when He sent us Jesus - our Rescuer. It's simply up to us to accept His gracious gift and join Him as His amazing table.
