Description

In Deuteronomy 10 & 11, Moses answers the question "what does God require of you?" He says in vs. 12b "He requires only that you fear the Lord your God, and live in a way that pleases Him, and love Him and serve Him with all your heart and soul." Moses reminds God's people that God chooses us. God wants us, He desires us, He sings over and delights in us. He so desperately wants an intimate relationship with us. Moses reminds God's people to fix their eyes on God and God alone and He in turn will fix His eyes on them. He reviews their bilateral covenant. If they choose to obey God, love Him, and follow His decrees and commands, they will have blessings poured out in their lives. If they choose to not follow God, they will be faced with curses and live a very hard life that leads to death. Chapter 11 vs. 26 says "I am giving you the choice between blessing and a curse." We have the same choice today. We can choose the salvation, mercy, and grace found in Jesus and let His blessing pour through our lives, or we can choose to face the curses and consequences of our sins which lead to eternal punishment and death. The choice is ours.
