In Deuteronomy 12 & 13, Moses is not messing around. They are about to enter into some very pagan nations full of false idols and false gods. They even had a god they would burn their children for. God is not okay with this. He reminds God's people to keep God and the very core and center of our souls and lives. Who we worship and how we worship means everything in our lives. He reminds the Israelites to not eat any of the blood in any of the meats they consume. The life blood is set apart and sacred and points directly to Jesus. The sacred blood of Jesus spilled out on the cross for us. He offered Himself as the ultimate, perfect, and final sacrifice so we can be free from sin and sin's chains. He conquered death once and for all. It is complete and finished. Moses cries out to God's people for a complete soul devotion to God and God alone, to obey God, listen to His voice, and to cling to Him. If you are 90% faithful to your spouse, are you truly faithful? Not trusting in Christ completely is not trusting in Christ at all.
