In Deuteronomy 14 & 15, Moses calls God's people to remember that God has chosen them. They are to remember that God rescued them. Remembering God's grace leads to loving God, and loving God leads to obeying God. Israel was to be holy and set apart because Israel is holy to God and must be distinct, set apart, and different from any of the people around them. They were to eat different, live different lives, and worship God in all they did and said. They didn't have Jesus yet. We have Jesus and we should also be set apart. We have the Holy Spirit in our lives working and living through us. We too should reflect God and His character in all we do and say. When we accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior, we are adopted by God. We are His children. We now have His character and His character should be reflected in our lives. God is now part of our DNA.
