In Exodus 12, the first Passover happens. The plague of death is hitting Egypt since they still refuse to repent and turn to God. God rescues His people by having them sacrifice a blemish-free lamb and painting the blood across their doorposts with a hyssop branch. Hyssop is a symbol of cleansing and purification. Jesus was our ultimate and final sacrifice - completely sinless. He was offered vinegar wine on a hyssop branch when he was dying on the cross for us. Death passes over God's people in Egypt during this plague because of the blood of their sacrificed lamb. Death passes over us and we are guaranteed eternal life with Jesus in Heaven because of Jesus' blood on the cross. We only need to accept Him as our Savior and Redeemer. It's faith in action. God brought an army of Israelites out of Egypt, out of slavery, out of bondage, and out of oppression. Jesus also brings us out of the slavery, bondage, and oppression of sin if we choose to put our trust in Him.
