In Exodus 13 & 14, the Israelites are called to remember. Remember the mighty power of God and all He did to rescue them. We are called to do the same in our own lives. Remember the past as we head into the future and tell the people in our lives all that God does in our lives. Do not forget we are redeemed and we belong to God. God takes the Israelites on a detour. They have some battles ahead and are not yet ready to face them. They need to learn to follow God's lead and trust Him completely. God lures Pharaoh into his own destruction as the Israelites are able to cross the Red Sea on dry ground. Even the Egyptians can see that it is God who is fighting for His people as they are overtaken by the same sea that saved God's people. In one act, God rescued and judged. Even in our fears, God is fighting for us. Even in uncertainty, we can have the courage to move forward knowing the mighty hand of God is on our side. As we learn to truly trust fully in God, our old sinful selves die and are washed away in the sea leaving us brand new and eternally saved by the blood of the Lamb.
