Description

In Exodus 33 & 34, God decides He is going to send an angel in His place with the Israelites as they travel on to the Promised Land. He is frustrated with their stubbornness and rebellion. Moses continually spends time with God and knows he cannot lead the people without God's presence with him. God reveals His name - Yahweh - and His character to Moses. They have a close, intimate relationship and are on a first name basis. God is compassionate, merciful, slow to anger, filled with unfailing love and faithfulness, forgives iniquities, rebellion, and sin but does not excuse the guilty. Sin has consequences that must be faced. Jesus took our sin's consequences for us on the cross if we believe in Him. If we don't, we will have to pay for those consequences ourselves. The choice is ours. Moses intercedes for God's people and God responds in compassion. Jesus intercedes for us, shows us the image of God, and leads us to God's promises.
