Description

In Genesis 27,  Isaac denies God's plan, Jacob lies, and Rebekah refuses to trust God's plan. Jacob tricks his father into giving him Esau's blessing. Thankfully, God's grace is not dependent on our "goodness". Esau cries out in desperation for a blessing as well. He is given a blessing, but it's a proclamation that he will have a hard life full of warring and will always be a servant. At the end of the blessing (vs 40), however, he says "But when you decide to break free, you will shake his yoke from your neck."  Comparison robs you of "you". It either brings you to a place of pride or jealousy making you either feel you are better or worse than others. It chokes you out of being yourself and the amazing person God created you to be.
