In Genesis 8 & 9, the floodwaters recede and God defines the terms of His covenant with Noah. A covenant is the terms with which God forms relationship with His people. God's covenants continue to build on each other through the Bible. Today, we have a covenant with God through our Faith in Jesus. It's a mutual commitment of love, a promise God forged for us through the Blood of His Son, Jesus. God's eternal covenant with us is sealed with the Holy Spirit. God's signature and seal to the covenant with Noah was a rainbow. The Holy Spirit is with us for all eternity because the Holy Spirit is our eternal rainbow. Noah's wooden Ark saved his life just like Jesus' wooden cross saves our lives today. God is moved to mercy and compassion when we come to the cross. Jesus gave His lifeblood so we could have life in Him.
