In Hosea 1, Hosea brings forth an "action sermon" of God's unconditional unfailing love. God's people were choosing false idols and sin over God and His unfailing goodness. We face temptation of idols every day in our lives and we can choose to stand firm and worship God and God alone. Hosea and his wife give birth to 3 children whose names mean "God Scatters", "no compassion or pity", and "not My people". God pulls away and lets His children have the sin they are fervently choosing over Him for a time and a season. God's love for us is completely unconditional. Nothing we do can ever separate us from His love. The enjoyment of His love is, however, dependent on our faith and obedience to Him. When His people repent and sincerely turn to Him, their names will change to "God sows", "My people", and "My loved one". God redeems, restores, and cleanses but it's up to us to choose His cleansing, redemption, and restoration for our lives. Then we will fully enjoy His love for all eternity.
