In Hosea 8 & 9, God reminds His people that we reap what we sow. His children continually chase the wind and seek after vanity, false idols, sin, and wickedness. Therefore, they would reap the whirlwind. They keep flailing around looking for their next fix, their prosperity, their next alliance, their next gold statue - instead of seeking and humbling themselves before God. He is the only One who can forgive us, cleanse us, restore us, and redeem us. He is all that matters but the more prosperous they became, the more they turned from God. Their carefree days of doing whatever they please are coming to an end as the Assyrian army invades the land bringing forth the harvest of their whirlwind.
