Description

In Joshua 11 - 13, God defeats the enemy nations, drives them out of the land promised to His people, and settles them into the land He promised His people. These chapters have a lot of names that are hard to pronounce but they are a direct fulfillment of God's promises for His people. He promised them the land and He gave them the land. Israel is very large now and it all started with one man (Abraham) and one promise. In order to fully participate in this covenant with God, the Israelites will will need to listen and obey God and God alone. Every land allotment is demonstrating God's faithfulness to His promise, His covenant, and His people. Joshua is getting a bit old and there's still a lot to do. God says He'll just take care of the remaining battles. Moses represents the law and the law can only get us so far. Joshua represents Jesus and Jesus is the only one who can bring us into God's promises for our lives. There is no successor. There are still battles to fight, but God's got them. Once we accept Jesus as our Savior, God's got us. It is finished.
