In Malachi 3, God sends a message through Malachi of the coming of John the Baptist as well as our Messiah. He also speaks of Jesus' return and the coming day of judgment that will come with His almighty return. Jesus came to earth and died for each of our sins - the sins of the world - just hoping we'd choose to put our faith in Him and receive eternal life instead of judgment for sins. God is both just and the justifier. He is just in that sin and evil will be judged and He is the Justifier to all those who trust in Jesus as their sins have been atoned for, forgiven and completely cleansed and wiped away. We are not here to indulge in selfish pleasures. We are here to point people to the kindness, mercy, and grace found in Jesus if we are willing to humbly repent of our selfishness and let Him lead and guide our lives. Everything we have on earth is not ours, it's from God, and we are to steward all He has poured out for us for His Kingdom, His glory, and spreading His message of redemption. When Jesus returns, the faithful remnant who stand firm in Christ, stand in awe of God and who He is, and worship Him as Lord Almighty are seen and known by God. They will be spared when judgment falls. Pursuing God, His holiness, and sharing His forgiving mercy with all those around us isn't a waste of time - it's an investment into eternity.
