In Matthew 17, Jesus took Peter, James, and John up on a mountain where they witnessed Jesus physically transform in front of them. As if that wasn't enough, Moses and Elijah also appeared and talked with Jesus. Suddenly, God the Father spoke from the heavens proclaiming that Jesus is the Son of God, the Father loves Jesus passionately, and we are all to listen to and obey Jesus. After God spoke, Peter, James, and John fell facedown in reverent awe and worship of the Lord. Jesus was transformed radically in His appearance as the glory of His Kingdom, the glory of His Cross, and the glory of His Submission was revealed. Peter, James, and John experienced the glory of Jesus and they were transformed as well. When we repent and turn our lives over in humble submission to Jesus, He gives us the gift of the Holy Spirt and transforms us from the inside out as we spend time in His presence, in prayer, and in His Word. Jesus intentionally went away to be with our Father, our Creator. We need to do that as well - more than anything. We need to step away from the business, step away from the routines, sept away from the chaos, and step into the presence of God. Spending time alone with the Lord every moment possible allows His Spirit to transform our hearts and lives more and more into His image. Catching even a glimpse of God's great glory changes a person for eternity and there's nothing better on the face of this earth.
