In Matthew 5, Jesus sat down on a mountain with His disciples gathered around Him and poured out wisdom for how to live every day as a follower of Christ Jesus. Jesus addressed issues of the heart. The unconditional love of Jesus covers us and through His power within us, He equips us to love others as well. Jesus didn't come to destroy the Law or the Prophets, He came to fulfill it. Fulfill means to fill out, to expand or complete. Jesus obeyed the Law perfectly and lived it out in His life on earth. It's like an acorn, through Jesus, God didn't destroy the acorn, He planted it so it could grow into the oak tree He created it to be. When Jesus died on the cross, the veil was torn and a new Priesthood was established - an eternal Priesthood. The path to God has been opened through Jesus. Jesus is still fulfilling the Law and prophesy. He is returning and His Redemption Plan of Love is still unfolding. As we await His return, we are called to pursue His holiness and shine His light and love to the world around us through the power of the Holy Spirit within us.
