In Numbers 16, an uprising against Moses, Aaron and ultimately God is started due to envy among the Levites. The people anointed by God to do His work are rebelling against their leaders and God. They fail to stop and pray and seek God's will. Moses responds to their uprising by taking it straight to God. His answer is always to seek God first and let Him decide. This is what we should all be doing every day of our lives. When anger rises up in Moses about the situation, he again takes it straight to God. God's judgment and wrath is about to be unleashed for their sin and rebellion. God sets mercy into Moses' heart and waits for Moses to pray and intercede, standing in the gap once again for the nation. This is the exact same thing Jesus does for us every single day. Sinning against God is more serious than we tend to want to admit. Sin leads to death. God provides a way out of the punishment we very much deserve for our sin - a rescue - through Jesus. Jesus is our ultimate High Priest, our intercessor, our rescuer, and our only way to God. Jesus stands between us and death - every single day. We just have to choose to let Him.
