In Numbers 17 & 18, God settles the leadership issue in the camp. He publicly confirms Aaron, his sons, and his tribe of Levites are indeed the chosen leaders and anointed by God. God puts an end to the grumbling, complaining, and murmuring in the camp. He puts an end to the distrust. Grumbling and complaining destroys our faith. Aaron's staff comes to life and produces ripe almonds. His old, dead piece of wood brings forth new life. Jesus died on the cross, is our ultimate High Priest, and brings new life into our dead lives. He forgives us, cleanses us, revives us, restores us, and makes us all new in Him. He gives us a new life. A life like we'd never dream of on our own. We can trust God and put all our faith in Him. He will never let us down and is faithful to keep all His promises.
