Description

In Numbers 34-36, the Israelites are still east of the Jordan River preparing to cross into the Promised Land. God gives clear instruction to Moses on how to divide the land without leaving out the Levites. God Himself is the portion for the Levites, but they still need somewhere to live. Cities of refuge are put in place so people who accidentally take someone's life can stay safe until they are given a fair trial. Despite their bitter attitudes and disobedience, God is honoring His covenant to Abraham and the Promised Land is coming. As they are on the brink of the Promised land, it is clear God does not approve of bad attitudes or disobedience, but He it is also clear that He is faithful in spite of it all. God never changes His mind about His will for our lives no matter what we may have done or what sins we've committed. God loves us all and sent His Son to die on each and every one of our crosses for us. Jesus took any and all of our sins as well as any power they may have held in our lives, such as shame or guilt. He took it all when He died on the cross for us - He was "all in" - He took it all. We can live righteously in Him if we choose Him - we can live "all in" every day. Jesus is our City of Refuge - we just have to choose to enter.
