In Psalm 38 & 39, David repents brokenheartedly before the Lord. He was honest with himself and God and laid it all before Him. He was really sick and walking through some huge struggles and sufferings. He even admits the writhing pain before God. When we face struggles and pains in life, we can focus on ourselves and experience sin's painfulness, we can focus on others and experience sin's loneliness, or we can focus on the Lord and experience sin's forgiveness. David chose to remain silent to those around him and trust God and God alone through his circumstances. He prayed honestly and openly and constantly and trusted God with the outcome. He was repentant and confident in God's mercy and mighty. We are not strangers to God. He knows us. He hears our prayers, our cries, and holds our tears. He wants us to know Him too - more than anything. Our lives on earth are like a breath, but eternity is forever. The choices we make here, and how we response to our circumstances makes all the difference for all eternity.
