Description

In Ruth 2, Ruth goes out to glean the edges of the field and she found herself right smack in Boaz's field. This is also right smack where God intended her to be. She works hard gleaning the edges of the harvest and Boaz takes notice. He inquires of her. He sees her character, integrity, honor, and humility and is drawn to her - even in her sweaty, dirty, messy state. He gives shows her kindness, comfort, provision, protection, and community. She appropriately responds in gratitude. This should always be our response to God. Boaz prays a public blessing over her and gives her so much that she ends up with a whole lot of extra. This generosity changes Naomi's heart from bitterness to blessing. God is moving in their lives. Even when Ruth and Boaz have their first lunch date, he gives her bread and wine. When we choose Jesus and accept His bread and wine and choose to take refuge under the wings of God, He will bless us. He will pour out provisions, comfort, protection, kindness, unconditional love - even in our messiest moments, protection and yes, even community. He gives us all we need if we trust in Him. Things won't always seem or appear pretty and perfect around us. That is not the world or reality we currently reside in. Ruth and Boaz were living in the time of the Judges - it was not a pretty time. In spite of the world around them, God provided. God provides the same today. He is never-changing. We can trust in Him. He loves us beyond comprehension and always will. Nothing will ever change the love God has for each and every one of us.
