In Song of Songs 4, 5, & 6, the relationship described is past the initial courtship of butterflies and excitement and settles into the growth phase. As they move into the growth and maturity phase of the relationship, the bride stops being intentional about spending time with her groom and she is no longer in his presence. She realizes her error and runs out to find him. Jesus is our Bridegroom and He is returning for a prepared Bride. We need to be intentional with our time with the Lord. He wants us to know Him, experience Him, and enjoy His presence. We need to spend time in His Word, spend time in prayer, and bask in His presence throughout every single day. He wants us to get out of the kiddy pool and dive into deeper waters with Him. It's up to us to choose to keep running, and keep diving deeper by spending intentional time with the Lord every day. It's up to us to fall more and more in love with Jesus, our coming Bridegroom.
