They are to encourage the expression of gratitude and show signals of care through social support. These protective factors buffer the body against the harmful effects of toxic stress.
According to Dr. Kristen Neff, PhD, being kind to yourself through the deliberate practice of self-compassion (mindfulness, self-kindness and common humanity) is the best way to achieve personal goals such as regaining vocal agency.
