In speaking to Maria, it becomes evident that her science background comes through not only in her stories, but also in the way she writes them. When drafting her books, Maria uses her life experience, be it childhood or adult memories, to make her characters feel more genuine. She researches her book’s subject matter both in person and online to be able to write clear details about them. And she also keeps organized notes and plot ideas with a notebook for every story. Oh, and she might give the hosts a mild panic attack when describing some of her past writing deadlines.
