Royal Mortier is a Structural Engineer, Developer, and the President/Founder of PLIRIS (plí-wris) (Greek for “Complete”).
PLIRIS provides services to volume and custom home builders currently across six (6) states and will be adding four (4) more states by the end of the year. PLIRIS also works with house plan websites to provide “Complete”, permittable plans to individual clients at a national level, and has their own plan website, plirisplans.com, to promote smaller home designers.
Royal is a home builder turned engineer, starting in the construction trades at 15 before leaving the trades in his mid-20’s to pursue college. A graduate of Oregon State University, he worked for the Corp of Engineers and a couple large construction companies before joining Mortier Engineering in 2014. Mortier Engineering was a small Oregon-based engineering and code consulting company his grandfather had founded in 1973, that was now employee owned. Over the course of 3 years, Mortier grew by over 500% adding multiple states to its service area.
During his time at Mortier Engineering, Royal found his passion was homes, and saw home builders and customers of house plan companies were being greatly underserved by the engineering industry. He came up with the idea of PLIRIS to focus on these clients and provide life balance to engineers. Royal exited Mortier Engineering (now MAE) in March of 2020 (great timing) to focus on the development of PLIRIS.
