Interesting Facts
- So basically how the movie started was whenever Sukumar saw someone fighting whenever he got there it would stop and he was always wondering what if they foought how it will be, he got to thought of Jagadam
- Initially he wanted to make it with Mahesh babu and Allu Arjun before Arya and even came out but due to some unknown circumstances it didnt happen, so. In this gap he made Arya and had a lot of love stories but felt I wanted to do something different and show new movie with violence backdrop. He started working on the script.
- Right when he finished the script, YVS Chowdhary Devadasu starring Ram had released and it had a been a week since it came out
- Anukokunda, Sukumar watched that movie and felt Ram was acting very hushaaru and effortlessly he would be a good fit so he approached Sravanthi Ravi Kishore, narrated it to Ram and got the green signal. Inttially he narrated the movie to Dil Raju but he had differences and Sukumar was very adamant at the time and said he behaved like a little kid and was movie should be like this only and in that anger he cancelled it and started it night night and started with a new producer and project was launched on February 4th, 2006. Sirivennela lyrics and then Kiran as art director their debut but both were replaced later on by Chandrabose and Sahithi and then AS Prakash filled in for Kiran after he left the project
- JD Sompalli son Aditya Babu was the producer making it only 2nd movie on Aditya Arts banner and funny enough Dil Raju came for opening
- Since he already had good relation with them, DSP music and then Ratnavaelu cinematography were on board. Both remained as highlights
- Sukumar asked DSP to compose a song between two vasthulu madhyana prema yela vuntadi and that was 5 feet 8 inches song and then when Sukumar told Chandrabose the story, he immediately wrote the song and Devi scored music for it and that is Violence is a fashion song. CBFC opposed to it I don’t know why but they changed it to Jagadam is a fashion.
- Filmed with Super35 MM Camera, first time in South India,
- For visual color palette, Rathnavelu used color psychology. I used bluish color for brother’s death scene because it gives chill effect. Generally we have the habit of using back and white or monotone while opening the flashbacks. But I used warm tone for the Jathara scene which comes as opening scene in flashback. I used the ting of yellow and saffron for this scene because it represents turmeric and kunkuma. I used to neutral tone while narrating the present.
- Finally March 16, 2007 movie released and movie didnt run. Audience like that after a movie like Arya, Sukumar chose to make a movie like this and they couldn’t connect to it and the dark theme didnt connect with people
- Sukumar couldn’t tell the point he wanted to tell, Soft faced Ram seeing him in such a rugged role, ISha Sahani acting and worst love track and screenplay issues all of these conturbited to failure of the movie
- Finally biggest plus was Sreekar Prasad konni naalu taravatha met Sukumar in a flight and brought up Jagadam. Sukumar said flop movie kasha enduku. Sreekar Prasad said im coming form Mumbai and a lot od directors have Jagadam movie in their library antha kanna yemi kavali.
- A lot of people might not call you or meet you but it got a lot of appreciations and technicians use it as a reference.
