Interesting Facts
- Most interesting fact was original music director was Harris Jayaraj and he started composing but soon after they felt he wouldn’t be able to give music in Telugu nativity and he was replaced with Mani Sharma, the top music director at the time in Telugu cinema. The song Naalone Pongenu Narmada in Surya S/O Krishnan was actually composed for Stalin movie but was not used.
- December 15th, 2006 movie was officially launched in Film Nagar and then January 18th, 2006 shooting officially started
- Annapurna, Ramanaidu, Padamalaya, Saradhi Studios, Military Camp in Delhi, and then two songs Siggutho Chi Chi and Go Goa Goa were filmed in Austria. Anuksha was confirmed as item song and it was big news back then. 2nd star hero movie after Super. And director Gopichand Malineli worked as assistant director for this movie, he’s actually in the movie 31:48 seconds disabled girl montage asking for help he comes
- In climax, Stalin was actually supposed to die but Parachuri brothers made the change in Tagore and he lives and they did the same for Stalin climax. To address the rumors that Murugadoos walked out of the project midway and Vinayak directed the rest, the clarity if Murugadoos wasn’t available for climax fight shoot so VV Vinayak directed that episode. Similarly in Khaidhi no 150, VV Vinayak wasn’t available so Chiranjeevi directed one scene.
- August 22nd, 2006 Lalitha Kala Vedika in Public Gardens, Hyderabad audio was launched. Pawan Kalyan was the chief guest and Chirutha movie and Ram Charan first public appearance was announced.
- Movie released on September 20th, 2006 amidst much fanfare with 550 theaters and 320 prints.
- One of the most hyped movies in Telugu cinema at the time since Chiru had 2 average films (Jai Chiraanjeeva and Andarivaadu) in the last 2 years and just 2 hits (Tagore and Shankar Dada MBBS) in 5 years after Indra in 2002 and they were waiting for another blockbuster since he was number 1 at the time.
- Even in USA, fans did hungama and movie had huge hype some dude Komati Jayaram bought the first ticket for $1116 dollars which is about 50,000 INR conversion.
- Movie released but due to comparison with Tagore and high expectations, it finished as above average at the box office. Some scenes were really good but apparently not a great response to the songs which is shocking, and Trisha role was a big minus.
- Sold for 30 crores and collected 15.5 crores share opening week which was an all time record and then at Prasad’s Multiplex it collected 9 Lakhs gross in one day state record,
- 50 days in 207 centers, 100 days in 34 centers it ran and collected 26 crores share overall becoming above average. First movie to collect more than 3 crores in Karnataka and first movie to collect 1 crores share in Guntur back then
- If the movie got hit talk, then it would have even another industry hit. And also 4 of the top 5 highest grossers at the time release belonged to Chiranjeevi: Indra, Tagore, Shankar Dada MMBS, and Stalin.
