Topics:

  1. Uniqueness about Telugu cinema - commercial cinema blended with masala and emotions, can’t find it anywhere else
  2. Success of RRR in the West - reasons we think why
  3. Double Edged Sword - because no good commercial directors left

Early 2000-2010’s commercial movie directors: Muthyala Subbaiah, SS Rajamouli, Trivikram, Puri jagannadh, Boyapati Sreenu, Sukumar, VV Vinayak, Gopichand Malineli, Krishna Vamsi, Vamshi Padipally, Koratala Siva, VN Aditya, Dasaradh, Gunashekar, Veera Shankar, Veera Potla, Parasuram, Surender Reddy, Sreenu Vaita, Anil Ravipudi, Karunakaran, Sreekanth Addala,

2015: Muthyala Subbaiah, Puri jagannadh, VV Vinayak, Krishna Vamsi, Vamshi Padipally, Koratala Siva, VN Aditya, Dasaradh, Gunashekar, Veera Shankar, Veera Potla, Parasuram, Surender Reddy, Sreenu Vaita, Karunakaran, and Sreekanth addala everybody went to the shed and became outdated. They no longer have the same grip or creativity to make it big

Present Day: Rajamouli, Trivikram, Sukumar, the big 3, then Koratala Siva, Boyapati, Anil Ravipudi

So I feel bad that when the time Telugu cinema is peaking and getting global recognition for the first time, the amount of commercial movie directors that can appeal to Western audiences are basically nil. They know Rajamouli and these new age directors none of them are commercial movie directors at all and majority of them disappear after just one film

New age directors: Middle Class Melodies director Vinant Anantoju, Venkatesh Maha, Sankalp Reddy, Sudheer varma, Tharun Bhascker, Madha movie director, Chandoo Mondeti, Nag Ashwin (project K), Hanu Raghavapaudi (Sita Ramam), Ravikanth Perupu, Venky Atluri, Venu Udugula, Sailesh Kolanu, Praveen Sattaru, Ravi Kiran Kolla, Venky Kudumula, Vivek Athreya,

Promising: Srinivas Avasarala, Sandeep Reddy Vanga, Nag Ashwin, Hanu Raghavapudi, Ravi Kiran Kolla, migitha andaru they have to prove themselves

Future: Is Rajamouli just a one off wonder or will the West now actively be interested in the new discovery that is Telugu cinema? MB29 will anyhow have humongous worldwide hype, but will ProjectK, NTR30 and RC15 get the same reception now that Tarak and Charan are known faces in the west? That remains the million dollars question.
