For close to a year Deb Charmelus has been working as a Princeton Teaching Fellow in Penang, Malaysia. But before traveling the world, she spent her time growing up and finding herself in Philly.
Deb is one of those people who always seems to know what's cool. Even when I think I'm up on some shit she's lightyears ahead of me. As an avid music lover we've always had a lot to talk about, and in this episode, we dive into her life growing up in a Haitian family, how she ended up managing her brother's band, and what life is like in South East Asia.
D was nice enough to host me for a week when I was visiting Penang. We did this interview in her living room on a beautiful morning while her friends were still asleep.
I swear this woman is going to end up someone important in media down the line, so I want to have proof that I called it...cause I'm petty like that. It was a pleasure to have her on, and I hope you enjoy the conversation as much as I did.
