In this podcast episode, Dr. Brown and Dr. Greer discuss the critical relationship between school counselors and administrators. Dr. Brown brings her extensive experience as a former School Counselor of the Year (2021) and her current role as a School Counselor Educator and Program Coordinator at Wichita State University. She has served on the Kansas School Counseling Association board in various capacities, including President and Awards Chair, and has experience as a school counselor at the elementary, middle, and high school levels, as well as an elementary teacher. Her deep knowledge of the counseling field allows her to offer insights on the evolving role of school counselors and how collaboration with administrators can drive student success.

Dr. Greer, now Superintendent of Maize USD 266, has a strong background in both counseling and educational leadership. Having served as an elementary counselor, principal, and Assistant Superintendent in Mulvane Schools before becoming Superintendent in Maize, Dr. Greer is deeply invested in community engagement and strategic leadership. Under her guidance, Maize USD 266 has implemented the Lead Forward Strategic Plan, emphasizing relationship building and shared leadership with district stakeholders. Named one of the National School Public Relations Association’s 25 Superintendents to Watch in 2023, Dr. Greer highlights how administrators can create a supportive environment for counselors and educators, ultimately benefiting the entire school community.

Together, they explore how strong communication, mutual respect, and shared goals between counselors and administrators lead to more effective support for students and staff alike.
