My guest today is Donia Kamal.
Donia Kamal is an Egyptian novelist and producer. She published three novels, Random Arrangements ترتيبات عشوائية، Cigarette No 7 سيجارة ٧, and Her and Doha هي وضحى.
She has also produced more than fifty documentary films and numerous television shows for various Arab networks. She currently lives between Egypt and the UAE.
I’ve known Donia through a friend in Dubai for a year. She is a very genuine and warm person and I am so excited to have her today!
In this episode, we discussed journalism and writing, her first job in a newspaper, being nerdy in school and college, favorite poets, favorite novels, the best compliment she received from a fan of her novel, her recent novel "Random Arrangements", the magical power of letters, the takeaway from being an expat and her love for Cairo's beautiful mess!
