The Power of Silence in LeadershipÂ
Who would have thought that getting comfortable with silence in conversations could positively impact human connection and bring out the best in people?
When we get comfortable with being uncomfortable with silence, we invite insight, realisation and curiousity into our conversations.
We were working with a trail-blazing group of leaders last week, checking in to see how they explored silence's impact in their work. One leader said: "When I spoke less in my 1:2:1's and became comfortable with silence, my team members had much more to say, and our conversations were more productive and impactful. Previously, I would over-prepare and fill those uncomfortable gaps of silence, which led to too much work from my side and fewer results.
