Bellas Story Hi my name is Bella and I am 3 years old. When I was in my mammy’s tummy there were complications that led me to have a very severe form of cerebral palsy. I can not and will never walk or talk. I have never been able to be fed orally therefore I am fed using a peg, this enables food to be pumped slowly by machine into my tummy. I also have tubes for my medication that go into my bowels and a drainage bag that is attached to me at all times. I have to be monitored 24/7 because sometimes I get a build-up of saliva that stops me from being able to breathe easy and I do have to get suctioned with special equipment that has to be with me at all times. I’ve spent most of my life in and out of hospital having many operations to try to help my condition as I go through a lot of pain daily. Since I cannot walk and have little mobility my mammy and daddy have had to carry me everywhere. I have never been able to go into a buggy as my muscles spasm’s make it impossible and very uncomfortable. In the last month, I have thankfully been equipped with a wheelchair that has been specially built and moulded to my body which has made life for me a little less uncomfortable but there is still a lot more that I need to help my quality of life. I come from a very loving family, I am the youngest of four in my house. Two of my siblings were born with cystic fibrosis so you can only imagine how much medication is stocked up in my house. My mammy and daddy are super hero’s for what they have to go through taking care of all of us but I think that they can only do so much and that if we got a little help it would go a long way. Natalie Ward has made a go fund me in order to try and help this family. They are in need of an extension for their house which is going to cost them €120,000. This extension would give Bella a downstairs bedroom which at this stage is desperately needed as Bella is getting to big to be carried upstairs to bed every night and she is only going to get bigger. It will also enable them to get special equipment needed for Bella and proper storage for all the medications and medical equipment that are kept in the house leaving such little space. I ask you as a community to please come together for this happy little girl and help in any way that you can, no donation is to little and every penny counts to help Bella get a better quality of life.
