Effective January 1, 2020 AB 68 passed allowing approval of Accessory Dwelling Units to include multiple ADU's in existing multifamily dwellings, multiple detached ADU's on the same lot as a multifamily dwelling and an ADU and a Junior ADU (JADU) on one lot. It also requires local agencies to ministerially approve a building permit for certain ADU's and JADU's in 60 days (instead of 120 days) from the time of receipt of the completed application.
