Description

When discussing WWII much is said about heroism, great battles, great evil, and even the machinery that drove the war, but little is said about those caught in the middle. People who by no fault or action of their own were subject to the great hardships of war.
Herman Walka was born four months into Germany’s annexation of Czechoslovakia breaking his family apart and leading to his people’s expulsion from their home land into the country that started the conflict in the first place. Despite facing discrimination for being an outsider he would go on to be a successful architect and engineer in Germany before moving his family to the United states in the eighties. Herman’s story of triumph over extreme hardships can be seen as an inspiration for all of us and I hope you will join me as we meet Herman Walka.
