Description

Since the early 2000s our lives have converted almost completely to the
digital and even more so to the virtual. With a single hard drive we can
hold the equivalent of an entire library of information. Photos, films,
books, even interpersonal communication, now can exist primarily in the
digital space. But with this change many have felt a personal
detachment, a longing for the tangible. Sales of vinyl records have
skyrocketed to pre90’s levels, cassettes, and even film sales have
steadily risen since the late 2010s.

Jamie Maldonado is a man who understands this. The founder of Piney
Woods Darkroom a nonprofit community dark room near the Tyler Public
Library. Jamie seeks to educate others in keeping film alive in the
world of photography. I had a great time talking photography, film, and
tangibility, and I hope you will enjoy it too as we go an meet Jamie
Maldonado.
