I just learned about sensory seeking versus sensory sensitive. I have a bit of both but more on the sensory seeking side. I hate wearing shoes, don't notice when I my clothes are disheveled, aren't too bothered by smells. But I hate loud noises. What about you?
This was something that came across my social media feeds and it's for parents who are trying to understand their kids.
However, I also found it helpful for myself.
We all know we have 5 senses: sight, smell, hearing, taste and touch.
Sensory seeking includes:
You like to hug and touch people
You've been told you don't know what personal space is
You talk loudly
You enjoy noise and loud environments
You have a high tolerance for pain
Sensory sensitive include:
You don't like like to hug or touch people
You avoid crowds
You prefer quiet environments
You don't like tight or itchy clothing
Some of us tend to be sensory seeking and some of us tend to be sensory sensitive.
When you know which type you are, you can create an environment that is optimal for you to function. Tag someone who can relate to this
