Sermon Recap – Part 2: “The Christian Citizen”
Romans 13:1–7 | 1 Peter 2:13–17 | Matthew 22:21
This week’s message by Pastor Massey reminded us that as Christians, we carry dual citizenship, one in Heaven and one here on earth. We are not called to retreat from the world, but to live as Kingdom ambassadors within it. In the midst of political chaos and moral decline, how do we remain faithful to God and honor our nation?
📌 Point 1: Obedience with Discernment
Romans 13:1 – “Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers…”
God ordains authority—but not blind loyalty. We honor laws until they defy God’s Word. Like the Hebrew boys in Babylon, we don’t bow, but we also don’t lash out in hate. We take a stand, in love.
You can resist sin without rebelling in spirit.
📌 Point 2: Pray for Leaders, Don’t Just Post About Them
1 Timothy 2:1–2 – “Pray for kings and all that are in authority…”
We’re quick to post, slow to pray. God commands intercession, not insult. Revival won’t come through slander—it will come through prayer.
Stop choosing sides. Choose the Kingdom.
📌 Point 3: Influence Without Compromise
Matthew 5:13–16 – “Ye are the salt of the earth…”
God is raising up bold, Spirit-filled believers like Daniel and Esther—people who infiltrate without imitating. This isn’t the hour for silence—it’s the hour for sanctified influence.
You cannot influence a culture you are hiding from!
