Budgeting and managing your finances while growing a business can feel daunting.
For the last episode in this first 'foundations' series I wanted to talk about the challenges of changing from a fixed and regular income to self employment, the uncertainty that comes with that and how budgeting can support a smoother transition.
Lucy Wallington is a budgeting blogger, trainer and advisor. She runs her own budgeting and planning community, produces products to help you learn to manage your money, and is an avid planner.
You'll hear me talk a little more about my own financial foibles and challenges. Having experienced choosing between buying my daughter a new pair of school shoes and buying food I know how scary finances can be, especially if aren't confident around money. Lucy is practical and down to earth and hugely enthusiastic about building up our financial savvy and skill.
We talk budgeting for your life stage, setting your budget for the first time and how to think about budgets during the transition from employed to self employed. We explore the connections between money and mental health and talk about the joys of financial decluttering.
