As Asian American and Pacific Islander Month comes to a close, we're celebrating one of the many great Asian American-owned businesses - and, at 30 years old, likely one of the oldest - in Anne Arundel County: Vuong's Martial Arts.
We sat down with Chien Vuong, owner of the self-proclaimed "best martial arts school ever," to discuss:
- How he fell in love with martial arts and decided, at the ripe old age of 12, that he would one day open a taekwondo studio.
- The work ethic instilled in him by his mom, who worked as a special forces nurse for the U.S. Army in Vietnam before bringing Chien and his two siblings to America, where she worked on Fort Bragg, in 1975.
- Why he's so passionate about helping kids become more confident in themselves, and become better people, through taekwondo.
- Why he loves having his business located in Anne Arundel County, along with his favorite businesses to visit.
PLUS the top five Asian Americans that he admires.
So tune in to learn more about a business, and a man, that's all about helping Anne Arundel County's kids become both physically and mentally fit!
