What does it mean to really do your job? I don’t think people ask themselves that enough anymore given that the only perceived indicator of doing your job currently has become exclusive to a monetary transaction. There seems to be a fatal disconnect from our own self-respect and when we’re asked to do a job.  The temporary gratification of paychecks and praise completely overshadows the potential for developing and sharing a craft that’s worthwhile.  The fear is misplaced; the demise of one’s dignity is no longer a deterrent for incompetence.  “Extra effort”, “attention to detail” and “over delivering” are now the new unwanted horrors of the suppliers . To do your job is to accept a role which inevitably creates responsibility, leaving the completed task at hand a reflection of your own capability.
