In this chat I'm joined by Darcy Cogdale, and what an episode it is!
Darcy is a personal trainer with an incredibly regimented routine, starting every morning with a black coffee to the face and a cold shower.
Darcy talks about his turbulent teenage years seeking approval and friendship with the wrong crowd, leading to regular drug and alcohol use, suspensions and expulsions from multiple schools, running away from home, petty crime including graffiti and robbery to fuel a drug habit and to be accepted by his peers, all before turning 18.
Darcy was hyper focused and used the tools at his disposal, unfortunately on all the wrong things, from being a daily drug user to moving up the ranks becoming a drug dealer, he went from couch surfing crackhouses to living in a penthouse in the city.
Physical altercations and run-ins with the police would ultimately lead him to end up in a prison cell.
Being in jail was where Darcy made a commitment to change, discovering his passion for health and fitness training his peers in prison & rehab, which he credits to saving his life and finally getting accepted in a positive manner.
He describes his mindset and how important is to find your "Why" in life.
He shares his dedication to discipline, commitment to routine, reminding himself everyday he will make his family proud and never go back to old vices.
An inspiring comeback story unlike any other, strap yourself in for a rollercoaster ride.
Darcy's story is so real, raw, honest and authentic. Enjoy!
