Have you ever felt like you have lost your sense of identity?
I did. It was one of the reasons I left the corporate world. I lost being able to understand in my own mind who Natalie was.
Fortunately I was also a coach with a business already established before I decided to take the leap of faith into coaching full time however fear is still forever present in my life.
I had started to think about the collective solutions I could create to the collection of problems that had led to feeling I a sense of loss in identity. I started looking at my thoughts; the people around me; when and when I did not take action; how I felt?
And then I realised, I needed to go back to the basics and asking myself what I stood for?
We limit ourselves and what we can achieve. There is no reach that does not look strange to someone in life. Most people would rather die than be uncomfortable.
Start reframing the way you see yourself.
Ask;
What do you stand to lose by doing the scariest thing and being authentically you?
What could you gain if you knew who you were and lived by this everyday?
What could you gain by feeling a sense of identity?
What if you raised up the challenge to take time to explore why you do what you do?
We will never eliminate fear. It is impossible.
It feels uncomfortable but it is not dangerous.
Face into the scariest thing right now.
Ask yourself purposely tough questions. Be comfortable with discomfort. As Seneca once said; “we suffer more often in imagination that I reality.”
Learn how to use fear as a compass. Fear alerts us to danger, but also to opportunity. If it wasn't scary, everyone would do it. If it was easy, there wouldn't be any growth in it.
Let’s learn to reframe the way we see and feel fear, the fear of being ourselves.
