Description

After being dead for 25 minutes of the football game, Michigan State's offense came alive in the 2nd half to stage a 31-7 win in East Lansing. The Spartans' defense collected 3 sacks, 10 tackles for loss, and 5 passes defended, while also holding Central Michigan quarterback Bert Emanuel Jr to only 41 rushing yards. Despite their best performance, the Chippewas stood no chance against Mel Tucker and his roster on Friday night. Despite their initial struggles, there were several players on Michigan State's roster that impressed. Running back Nathan Carter was impressive because he was the only player who was consistent for all four quarters on offense. Carter had over 100 rushing yards and 1 rushing touchdown today. Quarterback Noah Kim had a great 2nd half, and wide receivers Jaron Glover, Christian Fitzpatrick, and Tyrell Henry had a breakout game in their own right. On defense, linebackers Cal Haladay and Jacoby Windmon led a quiet but impressive performance. This offense needs better play calling, but Scottie Hazelton may have finally figured it out on defense.
