Michigan State Football had an impressive 2nd half against Central Michigan, winning 31-7 after entering the half up 10-7. The Spartans played well on defense, making tough tackles, penetrating the Chippewa offensive line, and also containing Bert Emaunel Jr.'s rushing attack. On offense, Noah Kim had two passing touchdowns to wide receiver Tyrell Henry and tight end Maliq Carr, and while the offense took 25 minutes to transition to a consistent attack, running back Nathan Carter was making explosive plays for much of the game. Carter had 113 rushing yards and 1 rushing touchdown, and I expect him to improve and transform into a great Big Ten running back by the end of the season. For Mel Tucker and his staff, this Saturday is all about playing disciplined, sound football against a Richmond team that is aggressive and disorganized. The No.8 Washington Huskies are coming to East Lansing in Week 3, and Michigan State needs to begin preparing for that game as soon as possible and maximize their chances to win. They can do that by staying tough on defense, opening up the offense, and getting 2-deep players time against Richmond.
