Matt Rhule and the Nebraska Cornhuskers had the perfect opportunity to clinch bowl eligibility yesterday afternoon. Michigan State Football was 2-6 and looked lifeless in October, meanwhile, Nebraska was 5-3 and they were building momentum after starting Heinrich Haarberg at quarterback. Regardless, the Spartans came out with a clutch 20-17 win, earning them their first Big Ten victory of the 2023 season, while Nebraska is still searching for bowl eligibility and the potential to win the Big Ten West. My reaction to this game is one of shock, and I imagine Nebraska fans are downright disgusted. Heinrich Haarberg had 3 turnovers to his name and he nearly had a 4th. Nebraska's offensive line gave up 7 sacks and 12 tackles for loss and while they had success running the football, Michigan State's defense limited Emmett Johnson enough to make the Cornhuskers uncomfortable in their own identity. Spartans quarterback Katin Houser had success in the passing game, going 13-20 for 165 yards and 1 touchdown, and there are several other good players on the roster who are one good coach away from being great.
