Behind marvelous Marvin Harrison Jr, the Ohio State Buckeyes beat the Penn State Nittany Lions 20-12 in a defense-dominated game. Ryan Day moves to 5-0 against Penn State as the head coach of Ohio State Football, where he is 18-6 overall against ranked opponents. Meanwhile, James Franklin falls to 1-9 against Ohio State, being 1-4 against Urban Meyer and 0-5 against Ryan Day. The difference in this game was the fact that Ohio State Football had the better coaching staff and the superior quarterback and wide receivers. Kyle McCord went 22/35 for 286 passing yards and 1 touchdown, while Drew Allar threw for 191 yards and 1 touchdown on 42 attempts. While Allar did not have an elite wide receiver like Marvin Harrison Jr (162 yards and 1 touchdown) or a great tight end in Cade Stover (70 receiving yards) he did have KeAndre Lambert-Smith, but consistently threw behind him and other receivers and was horrifically inaccurate the whole game. My reaction to this game is that Ohio State and Michigan are in a tier of their own in the Big Ten and the country, while Penn State is beneath them until proven otherwise. Penn State's offense looked horrific, and in my analysis, I explain that it is important for Franklin to either beat Michigan this year or beat Ohio State next year in order for a breakthrough to occur.
