The Ohio State Buckeyes played Youngstown State on Saturday, and despite the disparity in team talent, we learned more about Ryan Day's squad. Ohio State quarterback Kyle McCord won the starting job on Saturday because he outplayed Devin Brown, making better throws and having more confidence in comparison to Brown, his now backup quarterback. McCord went 14/20 for 258 yards and 3 touchdowns, with two of those touchdown passes ending up in Marvin Harrison Jr.'s hands. The offensive line still has inconsistencies that need to be worked out, but the run game looks better and McCord was comfortable in the pocket against the Penguins. Youngstown State is a good FCS team and I think they will be one of the best teams in their division as they were able to hold their own against Ohio State for a quarter. While there are concerns for the Buckeyes, my reaction to this game still takes more of a "Let's wait and see" approach rather than a response full of panic. I think Ohio State needs to focus more on their passing game, as it will be easier to bring McCord up to his full potential than the five players on the offensive line. l Make sure to comment so I can interact with you and answer any questions you have!
