Notre Dame embarrassed the USC Trojans in a 48-20 victory on Saturday night. USC Football has played with questions all year, and despite fielding a competent defense against Notre Dame, the offense was torn apart. USC Football has looked lethargic all season long, but they entered this matchup with an undefeated record while Notre Dame was 5-2 and coming off of an embarrassing loss to Louisville. Quarterback Caleb Williams threw 3 interceptions in the 1st half alone, and despite leading the offense down the field to score two touchdowns in the 2nd half, Notre Dame's offense and special teams continued to respond. Notre Dame amassed 6 sacks and 11 tackles for loss on the day and defensive back Xavier Watts recorded 3 takeaways. In the end, Notre Dame executed better on both sides of the ball and there was never any doubt as to who the better team was. My reaction to this game is one of concern for USC and one of excitement for Notre Dame's future. The Fighting Irish will likely win out and go to a New Year's Six Bowl, while the USC Trojans have Utah, California, Washington, Oregon, and UCLA left on their schedule.
