One in four of us will experience a mental health issue in any given year, yet the stigma around talking about mental health onboard and on shore remains for many and people are dying rather than having conversations.
Join us as co-host Emma Ross from SEAS THE MIND, our resident Mental Health First Aid instructor opens the conversation around mental health, stigma and discrimination onboard and how to have these conversations constructively.
What training do we have in life or in yachting about communication? How do we manage the tension of two very significant forces: letting others on board know how we feel and wanting to be kind and/or liked? How do we as HODs listen well what is the difference between sympathy and empathy? Finally, where do we go when we need help for ourselves or in support of others on board?
