For the second time in the history of Cinema Effect, we have the pleasure of reviewing a brand new film from one of our most talked about directors on the show. The one and only David Fincher. After an attempted hit goes terribly wrong for a (usually) highly skilled modern day assassin (played expertly by Michael Fassbender), a globe trotting mission ensues. Since we've discussed a vast array of his films in past episodes, from Gone Girl to Alien³, you may think we would basically be Fincher experts at this point. But the character of The Killer himself as well as the significance of the film's ending are frankly a bit unclear, and left us with plenty to analyse to try and uncover the themes at play. So we'll do just that, as well as admire the many techniques and moments which make this movie standout from the pack of 2023 releases.
